Alba Iulia
Alba Iulia is located in Central - Western Transylvania. In 1975 the city celebrated 2000 years of perpetual existence. The city was known in the Dacian times as Apulum. In 1918 the union of Transylvania and Romania was signed there. Among the tourist objectives, we can list:
- Alba Carolina Fort-Castle in Vauban style, the biggest such building in Transylvania (18th century)
- The Reunification Cathedral (1921-1922)
- Architectural monuments, such as the Princiary Palace (14th - 15th century)
- Apor Palace and Bethlen Miklos Palace, with a Renaissance architecture (17th century)
