Bran Castle

Bran Castle deserves most of its fame to Vlad the Impaler (also known as Dracula), but has little to do with this one. The castle was built between 1377 and 1382 on a hill near the road that crossed the Carpathians between Wallachia and Transylvania. The castle served a strictly strategical purpose, fact that can be easily seen from the military architecture and the lack of some outstanding decorations. The castle, very well preserved otherwise, nowadays hosts a feudal art museum, where some interesting pieces of furniture or other medieval items can be seen.
