Brasov
Brasov is the best-known medieval city in Transylvania, a fact that is easily explainable thanks to its convenient location or to its extremely attractive surroundings. Its foundations were set at 1252 (although it had been inhabited ever since the beginning of our era). The city has a nice old center, with medieval houses. The city is famous for its gothic architecture, for the ethnographic area where it lies and for the lovely mountains with many hiking and skiing possibilities. Among the most remarkable objectives to be visited, we can list a few:
The ruins of the fortress, built between 1395 and 1420AD, the craftsmen towers
Bartholomew Church (XIII century building)
St. Nicholas Chruch, with nice frescos, built in the XV-the century
The Black Church, maybe the most important and fabulous monument in the whole city, that lies in the Old Council's Square, built during a whole century, between 1385 and 1477AD, in gothic style
The County Museum, hosted by the Council Tower, an art and architecture monument from the 15th - 18th century
Hirscher House (1539-1545) built in a Renaissance style
Schei Neighborhood, with some lovely narrow streets and a bunch of very picturesque old houses that go up the hill
The remains of the fortress (at the bottoms of Tampa "Mountain")
Tampa Mountain (actually nothing more than a wooden hill with a cable car going up and some indeed nice views over the surroundings from the top)
