Herculane
Herculane, an ancient spa, is located in the nice Cerna Valley, on a road and a major railway, 40 km. North of Drobeta-Turnu Severin (160 m.alt.). It has mineral springs well known from Roman times, climate with Mediterranean influences Among the cure factors, one could list:
- Thermo-mineral, bicarbonated waters rich in chlorine, sodium, bromine and iodine; a total mineralisation of 0.6 and 3.5 g. /l.; the waters are used in both internal and external treatments;
- Thermo-mineral waters rich in sulphur, chlorine, sodium, bromine and iodine (2-7 g. /l.), used for the complex balneary treatment (both internal and external)
- Bioclimate with a strong negative ionization and an air similar to 3000 m.alt.
Among the recommendations, we could list:
- Rheumatismal degenerative or inflammatory diseases, post-trauma troubles, neurological, peripheral and metabolic disease, nutrition diseases, gynecological diseases, respiratory diseases, ORL diseases, digestive and heart troubles.
As far as the relaxation possibilities are concerned, we could list:
- Open air and indoors swimming pools, sport fields, fishing and hunting areas, caving
- Trips to the neighboring areas: Orsova, Drobeta-Turnu Severin
