Peles Castle
Peles Castle is nowadays one of the most important museums in Romania. It lies in Sinaia, on the main road and railway Bucharest - Brasov. Its construction took place between 1875 and 1883, after the plans made by Wilhelm Doreder and Karel Liman. This building gathers many architectural styles; however the gothic and the German Renaissance styles are the most frequent. The construction site was chosen by King Charles the 1st of Hohenzollern, which became the founder of modern Romania. The castle was set as a museum, with arms, furniture, paintings and other art exhibits. Each hall is set up and decorated in a different style from the others, and the richness in decorative elements is overwhelming. Around the castle there are seven terraces that provide an impressive view over the surrounding areas.
