Poienari Castle

Poienari Castle was built in the 14th century by Vlad the Impaler. If there is a castle in Romania which should be called "Dracula's castle", this is the one. The legend says that he first ordered all the local boyars to build the castle as a punishment for their greed, and then had them all killed. Nowadays only a few ruins have remained from the once lively castle, ruins that make the whole story even more appealing.
