Sinaia

A beautiful place to visit, Sinaia hosts palaces, large hotels with swimming pools and restaurants, cable cars and chair lifts. This is one of the finest mountain resorts in Europe, being spectacular by nature and history. In the resort, one can visit the Royal Castle of Peles built in 1870, Pelisor Castle and Foisor Castle and park, the Casino Palace and 16th Century Sinaia Monastery around which the whole settlement developed. The resort is located between Ploiesti and Brasov. The distance from Bucharest Otopeni Airport is 80 km and from Brasov it is 50 km. What makes this place different from others is that King Carol of Romania selected the Sinaia resort as Royal summer residence.

As the palace was intended for summer use only and not for routine, it was richly decorated with a wealth of elements that make it look like a jewel lost in the forests along Peles Valley. The cultural visit here can be finely blended with a walk or hike in Bucegi or Baiului Mountains, with a ski ride in winter, or with a cable car ride up to 2000 m.a.s.l. from where views are impressive.
