Targoviste

The Voyevodal Court in Targoviste stands for the most important tourist objective in the city. Back in 1584, Petru Cercel built there a voyevodal palace, which was the nucleon around which the fortress developed. The most imposing element in the fortress is the Sunset Tower ("Turnul Chindiei", 17th century), which served as a defensive and surveillance tower. The city is easily accessible on a secondary railway and road, from Bucharest.
